We are a non profit organization started by two women who fell in love with a little baby named Jonah. Jonah's mother is incarcerated in the Tennessee Prison for Women. After Jonah was returned to his family, we were contacted about 2 other women who were about to deliver. They did not want their baby to end up in foster care so they asked these two women if they would take them in. They each prayed about taking in another child. One women had lots of questions about the process since this time the child would go back directly to the mom when she gets out. Come to find out that these women are given a bus ticket home, maybe $30 (if they are lucky) and their baby. This is very shocking as most of these women are in for theft and drugs. It is stressful when you have a family to take care of, a job, and day to day responsibilities all by yourself. These women usually have no where to go, no job to go back to, no family to help or have used them all up and the only people to turn to are those that helped them get to prison in the first place. We decided that this is just leading them to be repeat offenders and placing these children into an unhealthy environment and possibly end up in foster care. We are wanting to develop a program that will set them up away from where they came from for 1 year to show them how to become the mother they should be for their child. We are putting our faith in God that this program will help inspire others to take the time to show his love to those who feel there isn't anyone else.
Thank you for everyone that contributed to the babies/children of Jonah's Journey!! You all made this Christmas one that they will never forget!!! Thank you!
